Overview

Memory leaks in *clock_source_create() functions under drivers/gpu/drm/amd/display/dc in the Linux kernel before 5.3.8 allow attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption). Ubuntu Security Notice 4227-2 - USN-4227-1 fixed vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. This update provides the corresponding updates for the Linux kernel for Microsoft Azure Cloud systems for Ubuntu 14.04 ESM. An attacker controlling an SMB server could use this to overwrite arbitrary files. It was discovered that a heap-based buffer overflow existed in the Marvell WiFi-Ex Driver for the Linux kernel. A physically proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code. Various other issues were also addressed.

Ubuntu Security Notice 4208-1 - Jann Horn discovered that the OverlayFS and ShiftFS Drivers in the Linux kernel did not properly handle reference counting during memory mapping operations when used in conjunction with AUFS. A local attacker could use this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code. Nicolas Waisman discovered that the WiFi driver stack in the Linux kernel did not properly validate SSID lengths. A physically proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. Various other issues were also addressed.
