The audiofile Audio File Library 0.3.6 has a NULL pointer dereference bug in ModuleState::setup in modules/ModuleState.cpp, which allows an attacker to cause a denial of service via a crafted caf file, as demonstrated by sfconvert.

If a user or an automated system were tricked into opening a specially crafted file, an attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. It was discovered that audiofile could be made to write out of bounds. If a user or an automated system were tricked into opening a specially crafted file, an attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code. This issue only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
