DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in GNU patch, which can be
exploited by malicious people to manipulate certain data or
compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the application, which
does not properly handle paths in patches. This can be exploited to
modify arbitrary files outside of the intended destination
directory.
This is related to vulnerability #1 in:

SOLUTION:
Fixed in the GIT repository.
