DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in VLC Media Player, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error within
the "MKV_IS_ID" macro in modules/demux/mkv/mkv.hpp of the MKV
demuxer. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code by e.g.
tricking a user into opening a specially crafted MKV file
The vulnerability is reported in version 1.1.6.1 and earlier.
SOLUTION:
Fixed in the GIT repository. Reportedly, version 1.1.7 will address
this issue.
