DESCRIPTION:
John Leitch has discovered some vulnerabilities in SocialABC NetworX,
which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site
scripting attacks or to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) Input passed via the "group_id" parameter to
group_connections_list_popup.php is not properly sanitised before
being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site.
2) The application does not properly restrict access to upload.php,
which can be exploited to upload files with arbitrary extensions and
e.g. execute arbitrary PHP code.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0.3. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
Restrict access to upload.php (e.g. via a .htaccess file).
