DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in LibTIFF, which can
potentially be exploited by malicious people to compromise an
application using the library.
1) Integer overflow errors in the processing of TIFF files can be
exploited to cause heap-based buffer overflows by e.g. tricking a
user into opening a specially crafted TIFF image in an application
using the library.
2) An error due to missing checks for the return code of
"TIFFroundup()" in "TIFFReadBufferSetup()" during the processing of
TIFF images can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow when a
specially crafted TIFF image is being processed.
The vulnerabilities are reported in versions prior to 3.9.3.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 3.9.3.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
1) The vendor credits Kevin Finisterre, digitalmunition.com
2) Red Hat credits Sauli Pahlman of CERT-FI.
