TITLE:
Hyperic HQ Cross-Site Scripting and Script Insertion Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA36935

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/36935/

DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Hyperic HQ, which can be
exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks and
by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

1) Input passed e.g. via the "typeId" parameter to mastheadAttach.do,
the "eid" parameter to Resource.do, and via the "u" parameter to
admin/user/UserAdmin.do is not properly sanitised before being
returned to the user in an exception handler within
hq/web/common/GenericError.jsp. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site.

2) Input passed via the "Description" parameter is not properly
sanitised before being returned to the user in an alert list. This
can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will
be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site
when the malicious data is being viewed.

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions 3.2, 4.0, 4.1,
4.2-beta1, AMS 2.0.0.SR3 and tc Server 6.0.20.B. Other versions may
also be affected.
