GNU Privacy Guard 2.0.13: Posted Sep 7, 2009; Site gnupg.org; GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard or GPG) is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms, it can be used without any restrictions.; Changes: 2048-bit RSA keys are now generated by default. The default hash algorithm preferences have changed to prefer SHA-256 over SHA-1. Writing of keys to v2 OpenPGP cards was enhanced. Several environment variables are now passed to the Pinentry to make SCIM work. A --batch mode was added to the GPGSM command --gen-key command.
