VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/36331/
DESCRIPTION:
Parvez Anwar has discovered a security issue in Corel getPlus
Download Manager, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to
gain escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the application setting insecure
default permissions on the "NOS" installation directory. This can be
exploited to gain escalated privileges by e.g. replacing the
getPlus_HelperSvc.exe service binary.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.5.0.48. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Update to the latest version and ensure that permissions on the "NOS"
directory and contained files are set correctly.
