DESCRIPTION:
Shaun Colley has discovered a vulnerability in FreeBSD, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of
Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error when loading PE COFF
binaries and can be exploited to crash the kernel.
Successful exploitation requires that the "pecoff" kernel module is
loaded or that PE COFF support is enabled when compiling the kernel.
The vulnerability is confirmed in FreeBSD 7.1 and reported in FreeBSD
7.2. Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict local access to trusted users only.
