SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA34566
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34566/
DESCRIPTION:
A weakness and two vulnerabilities have been reported in ClamAV,
which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security
restrictions or cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) An error in the handling of RAR archives can be exploited to
prevent the scanning of potentially malicious files via an invalid
uncompressed size field in a RAR archive.
2) An error in the processing of TAR files can be exploited to
trigger the execution of an infinite loop.
3) An error in the processing of PE files can be exploited to cause a
division by zero if "--detect-broken" is passed as an argument to the
application.
The weakness and the two vulnerabilities are reported in versions
prior to 0.95.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 0.95.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
1) Thierry Zoller
2) Reported by Jeffrey Thomas Peckham in a ClamAV bug report.
3) Reported by the vendor.
