TITLE:
Drupal Taxonomy Theme Module Script Insertion Vulnerability
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA34080
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34080/
DESCRIPTION:
Justin C. Klein Keane has discovered a vulnerability in the Taxonomy
Theme module for Drupal, which can be exploited by malicious users to
conduct script insertion attacks.
Input passed via the "name" parameter in index.php (when "q" is set
to "admin/content/taxonomy/add/vocabulary") is not properly sanitised
before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and
script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in
the context of an affected site when the malicious taxonomy theme
name is displayed.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability requires the "administer
taxonomy" privilege.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.x-1.1. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
