TITLE:
Falt4 CMS Cross-Site Request Forgery and Security Bypass
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA33973
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/33973/
DESCRIPTION:
A security issue and a vulnerability have been discovered in Falt4
CMS, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain
security restrictions and conduct cross-site request forgery
attacks.
1) The security issue is caused due to incorrect security
restrictions on the
"modules/newsletter/FCKeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/default/connectors/php/connector.php"
script. This can be exploited to upload malicious PHP scripts with the
e.g. pht extension to the web server.
Successful exploitation of this security issue requires a certain
server configuration (e.g. an Apache server with the "mod_mime"
module installed).
2) The application allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP
requests without performing any validity checks to verify the
requests. This can be exploited to e.g. change the administrator's
password by tricking the user into visiting a malicious web site.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to the FCKeditor directory (e.g. using a .htaccess
file).
Do not visit untrusted websites or follow untrusted links while
logged on to the application.
