DESCRIPTION:
CWH Underground has discovered some vulnerabilities in Family
Connections, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL
injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "address" parameter in addressbook.php is not
properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be
exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
2) Input passed to the "getnews" parameter in familynews.php (when
"newsid" is set to an existing news ID) is not properly sanitised
before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate
SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
3) Input passed to the "poll_id" parameter in home.php (when "action"
is set to "results") is not properly sanitised before being used in
SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by
injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of all vulnerabilities allows e.g. retrieving
usernames and password hashes, but requires valid user credentials.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.4. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
