DESCRIPTION:
Core Security Technologies has reported a vulnerability in NASA
BigView, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a
user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the
"getline()" function in Ppm/ppm.C as called from "PPM::ppmHeader()".
This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a
specially crafted .PPM file containing an overly-long (greater than
512 bytes) line.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is reported in version 1.8. Other versions may also
be affected.
SOLUTION:
Update to the latest version.
