CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:

WHERE:

SOFTWARE:
rFactor 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/15370/

DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has reported some vulnerabilities in rFactor, which
potentially can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service) or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A buffer overflow error exists within the handling of packets with
the IDs 0x80 or 0x88. This can potentially be exploited to execute
arbitrary code by sending specially crafted packages to a vulnerable
game server.

2) Errors when handling packets with the IDs 0x30 or 0x38 and 0x60 or
0x68 can be exploited to crash the server by sending specially crafted
packets to a vulnerable server.

3) An error exists when handling packets with the IDs 0x20 or 0x28.
This can be exploited to prohibit connections to port 34397/UDP by
sending specially crafted packets to a vulnerable server.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.250 and earlier. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Host games on trusted networks only.
