DESCRIPTION:
Avaya has acknowledged a vulnerability in Avaya CMS / IR, which can
be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is reported in Avaya CMS R12, R13/R13.1, and R14
and Avaya IR 1.3 and 2.0.

SOLUTION:
Avaya CMS:
The patches from Sun are currently being tested by the vendor for
installation on CMS systems. The vendor recommends to follow the
workaround provided by Sun.

Avaya IR:
Install patch 109354-26 for IR 1.3 Solaris 8 systems or patch
125279-02 on IR 2.0 Solaris 10.

NOTE: IR is reportedly only affected if system console, keyboard and
mouse are installed, with Common Desktop Environment (CDE)
configured.
