DESCRIPTION:
Tan Chew Keong has discovered a vulnerability in QuarkXPress, which
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the MSWord
text-import extension when handling font names. This can be exploited
to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long font name
(more than 256 bytes).
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code when a
user imports text from a malicious MSWord document using e.g. the
"Rectangle Text Box" tool.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 7.2. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Import text from trusted Word documents only.
