DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple Darwin Streaming
Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service) or to compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A boundary error in Darwin Streaming Proxy within the "is_command"
function can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a
specially crafted RTSP request.
2) A boundary error in Darwin Streaming Proxy while processing
"trackID" values within a "SETUP" request can be exploited to cause a
heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted RTSP request
containing more than 32 values.
Successful exploitation allows arbitrary code execution or a DoS.
The vulnerabilities are reported in Darwin Streaming Proxy 5.5.4 and
4.1. Other versions may also be affected.
NOTE: The Darwin Streaming Proxy 4.1 binary release for Fedora Core
is reportedly not vulnerable.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 5.5.5.
