DESCRIPTION:
Marsu Pilami has discovered a vulnerability in NewsReactor, which can
be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing
articles downloaded from a news server. This can be exploited to
cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted article
with an overly long (greater than 200 bytes) yEncode "name" keyword
posted to the news server.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in build 20070220.21. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Download articles from trusted news servers only.
