TITLE:
Connectix Boards SQL Injection and File Upload

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA24255

VERIFY ADVISORY:

CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
Manipulation of data, System access

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
Connectix Boards 0.x
http://secunia.com/product/13557/

DESCRIPTION:
DarkFig has discovered some vulnerabilities in Connectix Boards,
which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection
attacks or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Certain input when updating the signature is not properly
sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to
manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation allows to e.g. gain administrator privileges,
but requires a valid user account.

2) The application does not properly verify uploaded smileys. This
can be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP code by uploading a
malicious file.

Successful exploitation requires administrator privileges (which can
be gained by exploiting vulnerability #1).

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.7. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly filtered and
uploaded files are properly verified.
