CRITICAL:
Less critical

IMPACT:
Exposure of sensitive information

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
ModernBill 5.x
http://secunia.com/product/11774/

DESCRIPTION:
Justin Samuel has reported a security issue in ModernBill, which can
be exploited by malicious people to conduct man-in-the-middle (MITM)
attacks.

The problem is caused due to the application calling CURL with
CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER
and CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST set to false when communicating with a
payment gateway over SSL. This causes the CURL library to not
properly verifying the peer's certificate and can potentially be
exploited in a man-in-the-middle attack to decrypt all communications
between ModernBill and the payment gateway.

The security issue has been reported in versions 5.0.1 and 5.0.4.
Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not configure the application to use a payment gateway.

Use another product.
