DESCRIPTION:
Alan Cox has discovered a vulnerability in Evolution, which can be
exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the rendering of a
large email that contains a large number of URL links and other HTML
formatting. This can be exploited to cause Evolution to consume a
large amount of CPU and memory resources and stop responding.
Evolution will try to reload the malicious email even when it is
restarted.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.4.2.1. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Filter potentially malicious emails with a email filtering gateway.
