DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been reported in Cisco Management Center for IPS
Sensors (IPS MC), which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass
certain security restrictions.

The security issue is caused due to an error in the Cisco IOS IPS
(Intrusion Prevention System) configuration file that is generated by
the IPS MC and deployed to IOS IPS devices. This causes some
signatures belonging to certain classes to be incorrectly disabled,
potentially allowing malicious traffic to pass through.

The security issue has been reported in IPS MC version 2.1. The
security issue only affects signatures that were enabled and
configured from the IPS MC GUI and using either the STRING.TCP or
STRING.UDP signature micro-engine (SME).
