DESCRIPTION:
Ulf Harnhammar has reported a vulnerability in xine-lib, which
potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a
user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in
"input_cdda.c" when writing CD metadata retrieved from a CDDB server
to a cache file. This may be exploited to execute arbitrary code on a
user's system when the user plays a CD, which causes xine-lib to
download potentially malicious CD metadata from a CDDB server.
Successful exploitation requires that the attacker e.g. modifies
entries on the CDDB server, trick the user into connecting to a
malicious CDDB server, or trick the user into visiting a website
containing embedded xine Audio CD MRL (Media Resource Locator).
The vulnerability has been reported in the following versions:
* All 1-beta releases starting with and including 1-beta3.
* All 1-rc releases.
* All 1.0 releases up to and including 1.0.2.
* The 1.1.0 release.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.0.3a.
