DESCRIPTION:
Doctor Grim has reported two vulnerabilities in MercuryBoard, which
can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion and
SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the avatar URL parameter isn't properly sanitised
before it is being used and makes it possible to include script code
or HTML in the URL if it is appended with a ".jpg". This can be
exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site when viewing the
avatar.
2) Input passed to the "f" parameter in "index.php" is not properly
sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to
manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
The default error messages and debug output reveals potentially
sensitive information.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.1.2. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
