EMC Identifier: ESA-2015-164

Severity Rating: CVSS v2 Base Score: 8.5 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C)

Affected products:

• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.2.1.0

Summary:
EMC Isilon OneFS is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability that may potentially be exploited by attackers to compromise the affected system.

Details:
EMC Isilon OneFS is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability. The vulnerability may grant Active Directory (AD) users in trusted domains root-level access to EMC Isilon clusters if RFC 2307 is enabled on the cluster, and if Windows Services for UNIX (SFU) is not configured on the trusted domain.

Resolution:
The following versions of EMC Isilon OneFS resolve this vulnerability:
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.2.1.1
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.2.0.3
• EMC Isilon OneFS 7.1.1.5
EMC strongly recommends that all customers upgrade to a version containing the resolution at the earliest opportunity.
Workaround:

If upgrading is not an option, customers can perform the following workaround:

Do not enable RFC 2307 for AD authentication on your cluster unless your domain and all trusted domains have SFU enabled and configured for all domain users.
