DESCRIPTION:
Parvez Anwar has discovered two vulnerabilities in CyberLink
LabelPrint, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise
a user's system.
1) The application loads libraries (e.g. mfc71loc.dll and
mfc71enu.dll) in an insecure manner. This can be exploited to load
arbitrary libraries by tricking a user into e.g. opening a ".lpp"
file located on a remote WebDAV or SMB share.
2) A boundary error when processing certain attributes of a project
file (e.g. "PROFILE/@printout", "PROFILE/@stretch",
"INFORMATION/@title", "INFORMATION/@author") can be exploited to
cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted ".lpp"
file.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities allows execution of
arbitrary code, but requires tricking a user into opening a malicious
file.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.5.3602. Other versions
may also be affected.
