DESCRIPTION:
Red Hat has issued an update for the kernel. This fixes some
weaknesses and vulnerabilities, which can be exploited by malicious,
local users to disclose certain system information, cause a DoS
(Denial of Service), and gain escalated privileges and by malicious,
local users in a guest virtual machine and malicious people to cause
a DoS.
For more information:
SA44754
SA45835
1) A NULL pointer dereference error in the Stream Control
Transmission Protocol (SCTP) implementation can be exploited to cause
a DoS by sending specially crafted SCTP packets.
2) An error within the SAHF instruction emulation can be exploited by
privileged users within a guest system to crash the host system.
Successful exploitation of this weakness requires that the host
system is not using hardware assisted paging (HAP).
SOLUTION:
Updated packages are available via Red Hat Network.
