SILC (Secure Internet Live Conferencing) is a protocol which provides secure conferencing services in the Internet. It can be used to send any kind of messages, in addition to normal text messages. This includes multimedia messages like images, video, and audio stream. All messages in the SILC network are encrypted and authenticated, and messages can also be digitally signed. SILC protocol supports AES, SHA-1, PKCS#1, PKCS#3, X.509, OpenPGP, and is being developed in the IETF. This tarball holds all server related files.

Changes: This version adds heartbeat support and fixes some minor bugs.

Changes: This version adds a new default private message protection method by executing SILC Key Exchange protocol over the SILC network, client-to-client, to provide end-to-end protection for private messages. This version adds also other API improvements in SILC Client Library, SILC Core Library, and SILC Key Exchange Library. It fixes numerous bugs found using static analysis tools.

An input sanitization flaw was found in the way the AOL Open System for Communication in Realtime protocol plug-in in Pidgin, used by the AOL ICQ and AIM instant messaging systems, escaped certain UTF-8 characters. A remote attacker could use this flaw to crash Pidgin via a specially-crafted OSCAR message. Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2011-183 - When receiving various stanzas related to voice and video chat, the XMPP protocol plugin failed to ensure that the incoming message contained all required fields, and would crash if certain fields were missing. When receiving various messages related to requesting or receiving authorization for adding a buddy to a buddy list, the oscar protocol plugin failed to validate that a piece of text was UTF-8. In some cases invalid UTF-8 data would lead to a crash. When receiving various incoming messages, the SILC protocol plugin failed to validate that a piece of text was UTF-8. In some cases invalid UTF-8 data would lead to a crash. This update provides pidgin 2.10.1, which is not vulnerable to these issues.

This update restore that functionality. Several remote vulnerabilities have been discovered in Pidgin, a multi protocol instant messaging client. Crafted nicknames in the XMPP protocol can crash Pidgin remotely. Remote contacts may send too many custom smilies, crashing Pidgin.
