Overview

It has been discovered that lftp up to and including version 4.8.3 does not properly sanitize remote file names, leading to a loss of integrity on the local system when reverse mirroring is used. A remote attacker may trick a user to use reverse mirroring on an attacker controlled FTP server, resulting in the removal of all files in the current working directory of the victim's system.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2020-1045-01 - LFTP is a file transfer utility for File Transfer Protocol, Secure File Transfer Protocol, Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and other commonly used protocols. It uses the readline library for input, and provides support for bookmarks, built-in monitoring, job control, and parallel transfer of multiple files at the same time.

Ubuntu Security Notice 3731-2 - USN-3731-1 fixed a vulnerability in LFTP. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 12.04 ESM. It was discovered that LFTP incorrectly handled certain files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. Various other issues were also addressed.
