DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in libmspack, which can be
exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error when copying data from an
uncompressed block (block type 0) and can be exploited to trigger an
infinite loop by tricking an application using the library into
processing specially crafted MS-ZIP archives.
The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 0.2.
Note: An issue within the Quantum archive decoder reported by Larry
Frieson can cause the library to pass a negative integer to the
application's "spack_system::write()" implementation, which may in
turn handle this as unsigned integer, subsequently leading to e.g.
crashes.
SOLUTION:
Update to libmspack 0.2.
