CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
Security Bypass, Manipulation of data, System access

WHERE:

SOFTWARE:
SocialEngine 2.x
http://secunia.com/product/19361/

DESCRIPTION:
Tim Loshak has reported some vulnerabilities in SocialEngine, which
can be exploited by malicious users to compromise a vulnerable
system, and by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks and
bypass certain security restrictions.

1) Input passed in the "se_user" cookie to include/class_user.php and
"se_admin" to include/class_admin.php is not properly sanitised before
being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL
queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows e.g. logging in
as administrator without valid administrator credentials.

2) Input passed as template data is not properly sanitised before
being stored in templates. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary
PHP code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires valid
administrator credentials (but see #1).

The vulnerabilities are reported in versions prior to 2.83.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 2.83.
