Allaire Security Bulletin (ASB99-06)
Netscape Servers for Win NT Exposure of Source Code with "%20"

Summary
Netscape Enterprise (3.x) and OReilly (1.1x and 2.0x) Servers on
Windows NT expose the ability to read the source code of CFML, Perl
and other script files that are on a server. Netscape has indicated
this problem on their web site. Similar to the issue described in
Allaire Security Bulletin ASB99-03. This is not a result of the
ColdFusion Server itself, but is an issue that can affect ColdFusion
users. Allaire recommends that customers follow the instructions from
their respective Web server vendor to address this issue.

Issue
A "%20" appended to a URL will yield the unprocessed source code of a
script file rather than execute it as a script. For example,
http://myserver/index.cfm%20 may yield the contents of the file
itself, not the processed results of the file.

Affected Software Versions

Any ColdFusion Server (1.x, 2.x, 3.x, 4.x.) running on Windows NT
with:
* Netscape 3.0
* Netscape Enterprise Server 3.5.1
* Netscape FastTrack 3.01
* OReilly Website 1.1x
* OReilly Website 2.0x.

What Allaire is Doing
This is not the result of Allaire products, so we recommend that
customers reference the information available from their web server
vendor. Netscape has addressed this issue at the following url:

What Customers Should Do
There is a patch available from Netscape to correct this problem. The
patch is detailed at:

The latest version of OReilly WebSite 2 (2.37) has also corrected this
problem.

Revisions
June 14, 1999 OReilly Website added to Bulletin.
May 19, 1999 -- Bulletin first created.
