DESCRIPTION:
Tanya Secker has discovered multiple vulnerabilities in Scrutinizer
NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer, which can be exploited by malicious
people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks and
bypass certain security restrictions.
1) An error due to the application not validating certain requests
sent to cgi-bin/userprefs.cgi can be exploited to create an arbitrary
user with administrative privileges.
Note: This can further be exploited to perform script insertion
attacks via the "newUser" parameter.
2) Input passed via the "addip" parameter to
cgi-bin/scrut_fa_exclusions.cgi and e.g. "search_str" parameter to
d4d/alarms.php is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL
query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting
arbitrary SQL code.
3) Input passed to the "standalone" parameter in
cgi-bin/scrut_fa_exclusions.cgi is not properly sanitised before
being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 8.6.2 and confirmed in
version 8.6.1. Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Upgrade to version 9.0.1.
