DESCRIPTION:
Jason A. Donenfeld has reported multiple vulnerabilities in
Tunnelblick, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to
cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and gain escalated privileges.
1) A race condition when checking file permissions can be exploited
to execute certain scripts with root privileges.
2) The application does not properly verify file permissions before
executing the script with root privileges.
3) The application does not properly validate path names of modules
before loading them and can be exploited to execute arbitrary kernel
modules.
4) The openvpnstart application does not properly validate path names
and can be exploited to execute arbitrary scripts via symlink
attacks.
5) The application loads configuration files with a setuid-root set
binary, which can be exploited to load arbitrary configurations and
gain escalated privileges.
6) A race condition error when checking a process name and killing
the PID can be exploited to kill arbitrary processes.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 3.2.8 (build 2891.3099).
Other versions may also be affected.
