DESCRIPTION:
Multiple security issues and vulnerabilities have been reported in
Moodle, which can be exploited by malicious users to disclose
sensitive information and bypass certain security restrictions and by
malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions.
1) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
database activity module when exporting data, which can be exploited
to disclose the content of database entries for other groups.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires permissions to
export data via the database activity module.
2) An error in the web service function "core_user_update_users"
resets the password when updating a user, which can be exploited to
log in as a user with an empty password.
3) Multiple errors exist in the handling of access permissions in
repository/coursefiles/db/access.php,
repository/filesystem/db/access.php, repository/local/db/access.php,
and repository/webdav/db/access.php, which can be exploited to
disclose the contents of otherwise restricted repositories.
4) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
"load_for_user()" function in lib/navigationlib.php (when "Full name
format" is set to "First name" in "Site Policies"), which can be
exploited to disclose users' last names on the breadcrumbs page.
5) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
"definition()" function in grade/export/grade_export_form.php when
exporting grades, which can be exploited to disclose hidden grades.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires permissions to
export grades.
6) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
"fill_table()" function in grade/report/overview/lib.php, which can
be exploited to disclose hidden courses in the overview report.
7) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in
mod/forum/index.php, which can be exploited to subscribe to forums
for otherwise restricted courses.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires a manager
account.
8) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
"coursetag_get_tagged_courses()" function in tag/coursetagslib.php
when displaying tag searches, which can be exploited to disclose
hidden courses.
9) An error exists in the handling of access permissions in the
"get_enrolled_users()" function in enrol/externallib.php, which can
be exploited to disclose enrolled users for a course.
This vulnerability is only reported in versions 2.2 through 2.2.1.
The security issues and vulnerabilities are reported in versions 2.1
through 2.1.4+ and 2.2 through 2.2.1+.
SOLUTION:
