Libcap-NG Library 0.7
Posted Jul 26, 2012
Site people.redhat.com

The libcap-ng library is intended to make programming with POSIX capabilities much easier than the traditional libcap library. It includes utilities that can analyze all currently running applications to locate applications that may have too many privileges.

Changes: This release adds support for a new Linux kernel capability, closes potentially leaked file descriptors, fixes a potential segfault, and solves a problem which resulted in reduced capabilities in pscap to cause fewer processes to be reported on.

GNU SASL 1.8.0
Posted May 29, 2012
Authored by Simon Josefsson

GNU SASL is an implementation of the Simple Authentication and Security Layer framework and a few common SASL mechanisms. SASL is used by network servers such as IMAP and SMTP to request authentication from clients, and in clients to authenticate against servers. The library includes support for the SASL framework (with authentication functions and application data privacy and integrity functions) and at least partial support for the CRAM-MD5, EXTERNAL, GSSAPI, ANONYMOUS, PLAIN, SECURID, DIGEST-MD5, LOGIN, NTLM, and KERBEROS_V5 mechanisms.

Changes: This is a new major stable release. SAML20 support following RFC 6595. OPENID20 support following RFC 6616. SMTP server examples (e.g. for SCRAM, SAML20, and OPENID20). Various cleanups, portability fixes, and other bugfixes. The API and ABI are fully backwards compatible with version 1.6.x.

libdvdcss 1.2.11
Posted Nov 16, 2011
Site videolan.org

libdvdcss is a cross-platform library for transparent DVD device access with on-the-fly CSS decryption. It currently runs under Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, BSD/OS, Solaris, BeOS, Win95/Win98, Win2k/WinXP, MacOS X, HP-UX, QNX, and OS/2. It is used by libdvdread and most DVD players such as VLC because of its portability and because, unlike similar libraries, it does not require your DVD drive to be region locked.

Changes: This release improves RPC-II drive handling and contains a more robust keys retrieval mode. It also introduces fixes for MingW and OS/2 compilation, and has various bugfixes for small issues, memory leaks, crashes, and build issues.

LibPRNGWrap 2.0.0
Posted Oct 5, 2011
Authored by Folkert van Heusden | Site vanheusden.com

libprngwrap is a preload-library (so that it doesn't require any changes to the software it alters) which replaces the libc rand() random() and *rand48() calls by code that gets data from /dev/urandom. This might be a little bit more secure.

Changes: This release adds compatibility fixes and implements all re-entrant PRNG functions from libc.

OpenSC Tools And Libraries For Smart Cards 0.12.2
Posted Jul 17, 2011
Site opensc-project.org

OpenSC consists of tools and libraries and a PKCS#11 module to use smart cards and initialize blank smart cards. It supports many commercial smart cards with filesystems, many national ID cards (read only), and some Java Card cards with specific Java Card applets. OpenSC implements the PKCS#15 standard. Cards initialized with OpenSC can be used (read-only) with other software implementing PKCS#15 standard and vice versa.

Changes: This is the first version from the new infrastructure (Github with continuous builds). Several bugs were fixed for various cards (TCOS, OpenPGP, FINeID).
