Tinc Virtual Private Network Daemon 1.0.24
Posted May 13, 2014
Authored by Ivo Timmermans | Site tinc-vpn.org

tinc is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) daemon that uses tunneling and encryption to create a secure private network between multiple hosts on the Internet. This tunneling allows VPN sites to share information with each other over the Internet without exposing any information.

Changes: This release enables various compiler hardening flags by default. It has updated support for Solaris, allowing switch mode on Solaris11. Configuration will now also be read from a conf.d directory. It will try to reload /etc/resolv.conf after receiving SIGALRM. This release fixes a potential routing loop when IndirectData or TCPOnly is used and broadcast packets are being sent, improves security with constant time memcmp and stricter use of OpenSSL's RNG functions, and has fixed all issues found by Coverity.

Hyperion Runtime Encrypter 1.1
Posted May 9, 2014
Authored by belial | Site nullsecurity.net

Hyperion is a runtime encrypter for 32-bit portable executables. It is a reference implementation and bases on the paper "Hyperion: Implementation of a PE-Crypter".

Changes: Code base has been cleaned up to decrease size and increase maintainability. Furthermore, a new command line allows enabling/disabling of logging and verbose informations. Key space can be reduced too which speeds up the bruteforcing process for larger input files. Next stop will be AV evasion to reduce detection rate.

cryptmount Filesystem Manager 5.0
Posted May 3, 2014
Authored by RW Penney | Site cryptmount.sourceforge.net

cryptmount is a utility for creating and managing secure filing systems on GNU/Linux systems. After initial setup, it allows any user to mount or unmount filesystems on demand, solely by providing the decryption password, with any system devices needed to access the filing system being configured automatically. A wide variety of encryption schemes (provided by the kernel dm-crypt system and the libgcrypt library) can be used to protect both the filesystem and the access key. The protected filing systems can reside in either ordinary files or disk partitions. The package also supports encrypted swap partitions, and automatic configuration on system boot-up.

Changes: This (stable) release ports all LUKS functionality to use libcryptsetup, adds a commandline option to query the encrypted filesystem status, and improves Doxygen documentation of the source code.

SSLsplit 0.4.8
Posted Jan 16, 2014
Site roe.ch

SSLsplit is a tool for man-in-the-middle attacks against SSL/TLS encrypted network connections. Connections are transparently intercepted through a network address translation engine and redirected to SSLsplit. SSLsplit terminates SSL/TLS and initiates a new SSL/TLS connection to the original destination address, while logging all data transmitted. SSLsplit is intended to be useful for network forensics and penetration testing.

Changes: This release adds experimental support for pf on Mac OS X, and adds support for pf divert-to on FreeBSD and OpenBSD. SSLsplit now removes headers advertising support for SPDY/QUIC from HTTP responses. Additionally, a number of segmentation faults, a memory leak, and a file descriptor leak have been fixed, greatly improving overall stability.

OpenSSL Toolkit 1.0.1f
Posted Jan 10, 2014
Site openssl.org

OpenSSL is a robust, fully featured Open Source toolkit implementing the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols with full-strength cryptography world-wide.

Changes: A TLS record tampering bug was fixed. A carefully crafted invalid handshake could crash OpenSSL with a NULL pointer exception (CVE-2013-4353). Original DTLS digest and encryption contexts are kept in retransmission structures so that the previous session parameters can be used if they need to be re-sent (CVE-2013-6450). A SSL_OP_SAFARI_ECDHE_ECDSA_BUG option (part of SSL_OP_ALL) which avoids preferring ECDHE-ECDSA ciphers when the client appears to be Safari on OS X was added.

GNU Privacy Guard 1.4.16
Posted Dec 21, 2013
Site gnupg.org

GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard or GPG) is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms, it can be used without any restrictions.

Changes: This release fixes the RSA Key Extraction via Low-Bandwidth Acoustic Cryptanalysis attack as described by Genkin, Shamir, and Tromer. Also, by default only the major version number is printed on armored output, a trustdb file is not created when --ttrust-model=always is used, keyid for key packets are printed when --list-packets is used, and the modular exponentiation algorithm has been changed to recover from a small performance loss in version 1.4.1.

Authored by stderr | Site chokepoint.net

CryptHook is a modular implementation for securing and layering cryptography for existing applications with symmetrical block cipher encryption. It works by hooking the base system calls for network communication send/sendto and recv/recvfrom. Crypthook will work with any existing application that relies on these system calls. Full example at their homepage includes tunneling SSH through the encrypted wrapper.

Changes: With gpg-agent, by default users are now asked via the Pinentry whether they trust an X.509 root key. To prohibit interactive marking of such keys, the new option --no-allow-mark-trusted may be used. The command KEYINFO has options to add info from sshcontrol for gpg-agent. The included ssh agent now supports ECDSA keys. The new option --enable-putty-support allows gpg-agent to act on Windows as a Pageant replacement with full smartcard support. This release supports installation as a portable application under Windows.
