EMC Celerra/VNX/VNXe Improper Access Control
Posted Jul 12, 2012
Site emc.com

A vulnerability exists in EMC Celerra/VNX/VNXe systems that can be potentially exploited to gain unauthorized access to distributed files and directories. In certain circumstances, NFS v2/3/4 clients with network access to exported file systems may be able to gain unauthorized access to files or directories in that file system due to access control issues.

Tor-ramdisk i686 UClibc-based Linux Distribution x86 20120622
Posted Jun 23, 2012
Authored by Anthony G. Basile | Site opensource.dyc.edu

Tor-ramdisk is an i686 uClibc-based micro Linux distribution whose only purpose is to host a Tor server in an environment that maximizes security and privacy. Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. Security is enhanced by employing a monolithically compiled GRSEC/PAX patched kernel and hardened system tools. Privacy is enhanced by turning off logging at all levels so that even the Tor operator only has access to minimal information. Finally, since everything runs in ephemeral memory, no information survives a reboot, except for the Tor configuration file and the private RSA key which may be exported/imported by FTP. x86 version.

Changes: Tor was updated to 0.2.2.37, BusyBox to 1.20.1, and the kernel to 3.4.2 plus Gentoo's hardened-patches-3.4.2-2.extras. The MIPS port also incorporated these changes, but for this architecture the kernel was kept at vanilla 3.2.5.

Dolibarr ERP & CRM 3 Post-Auth OS Command Injection
Posted Apr 10, 2012
Authored by Nahuel Grisolia, sinn3r | Site metasploit.com

This Metasploit module exploits a vulnerability found in Dolibarr ERP/CRM's backup feature. This software is used to manage a company's business information such as contacts, invoices, orders, stocks, agenda, etc. When processing a database backup request, the export.php function does not check the input given to the sql_compat parameter, which allows a remote authenticated attacker to inject system commands into it, and then gain arbitrary code execution.

Zero Day Initiative Advisory 12-026

Zero Day Initiative Advisory 12-026 - This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of IBM SPSS. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the Render() method exposed by the ExportHTML.dll ActiveX control. This method causes a file to be written to an arbitrary path specified by the second argument (Output). The contents of the file can be controlled by manipulating the object members 'CssLocation', 'LayoutStyle' and 'EmbedCss'. The CssLocation member can be directed to a UNC path containing a file to be included in the file generated by the call to Render(). These behaviors can be exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Zero Day Initiative Advisory 12-022 - This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of CA Total Defense Suite. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the ExportReport stored procedure, accessed via the management.asmx console. The Management Web Service listens for SOAP 1.2 requests on port 34444 for HTTP and 34443 for HTTPS. Due to a flaw in the implementation of the ExportReport stored procedure, it is possible for a remote, unauthenticated user to inject arbitrary SQL commands in the SOAP request--which could ultimately lead to arbitrary code execution under the context of the SYSTEM user by invoking an exec function.

Ubuntu Security Notice 1355-1 - It was discovered that if a user chose to export their Firefox Sync key the "Firefox Recovery Key.html" file is saved with incorrect permissions, making the file contents potentially readable by other users. Nicolas Gregoire and Aki Helin discovered that when processing a malformed embedded XSLT stylesheet, Firefox can crash due to memory corruption. If the user were tricked into opening a specially crafted page, an attacker could exploit this to cause a denial of service via application crash, or potentially execute code with the privileges of the user invoking Firefox. Various other issues were also addressed.

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2011-198
Posted Jan 1, 2012
Authored by Mandriva | Site mandriva.com

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2011-198 - Multiple vulnerabilities has been found and corrected in phpmyadmin. Importing a specially-crafted XML file which contains an XML entity injection permits to retrieve a local file (limited by the privileges of the user running the web server). Using crafted database names, it was possible to produce XSS in the Database Synchronize and Database rename panels. Using an invalid and crafted SQL query, it was possible to produce XSS when editing a query on a table overview panel or when using the view creation dialog. Using a crafted column type, it was possible to produce XSS in the table search and create index dialogs. Crafted values entered in the setup interface can produce XSS; also, if the config directory exists and is writeable, the XSS payload can be saved to this directory. Using crafted url parameters, it was possible to produce XSS on the export panels in the server, database and table sections. This upgrade provides the latest phpmyadmin version to address these vulnerabilities.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2011-1534-03 - The nfs-utils packages provide a daemon for the kernel Network File System server, and related tools such as the mount.nfs, umount.nfs, and showmount programs. A flaw was found in the way nfs-utils performed IP based authentication of mount requests. In configurations where a directory was exported to a group of systems using a DNS wildcard or NIS netgroup, an attacker could possibly gain access to other directories exported to a specific host or subnet, bypassing intended access restrictions.

HP Power Manager 'formExportDataLogs' Buffer Overflow

This Metasploit module exploits a buffer overflow in HP Power Manager's 'formExportDataLogs'. By creating a malformed request specifically for the fileName parameter, a stack-based buffer overflow occurs due to a long error message (which contains the fileName), which may result in arbitrary remote code execution under the context of 'SYSTEM'.
