It also enables software developers to create new communication tools with built-in privacy features. It provides the foundation for a range of applications that allow organizations and individuals to share information over public networks without compromising their privacy. Individuals can use it to keep remote Websites from tracking them and their family members. They can also use it to connect to resources such as news sites or instant messaging services that are blocked by their local Internet service providers (ISPs).; Changes: Tor 0.3.1.7 is the first stable release in the 0.3.1 series. With the 0.3.1 series, Tor now serves and downloads directory information in more compact formats, to save on bandwidth overhead. It also contains a new padding system to resist netflow-based traffic analysis, and experimental support for building parts of Tor in Rust (though no parts of Tor are in Rust yet). There are also numerous small features, bugfixes on earlier release series, and groundwork for the hidden services revamp of 0.3.2.
