The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the Server Controller authentication mechanism, which does not properly verify the COOKIEFILE path before using it to retrieve a user's credentials. This can be exploited to bypass the authentication mechanism by providing a malicious UNC path to COOKIEFILE. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. SOLUTION: Restrict access to the affected service to trusted hosts only. PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Patrik Karlsson via ZDI.
