The vulnerability is caused due to an error when processing messages containing nested variants, which can be exploited to cause a stack overflow and e.g. crash the D-Bus daemon by sending a D-Bus message containing a large number of nested variants. The vulnerability is reported in version 1.4.0. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to trusted users only.
