The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the "utf8_ascii()" function in src/metaprint.c and can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by e.g. tricking a user into playing a specially crafted MP3 file. Successful exploitation requires a non-UTF-8 system. NOTE: Secunia normally does not classify client crashes as a vulnerability nor issue an advisory about it. However, the potential impact of this issue may be more severe than currently believed. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.12.4. SOLUTION: Update to version 1.12.5.
