The vulnerability is caused due to Ipv4SetEchoRequestCreate() in tcpip.sys not releasing a locked memory page before process termination when being interrupted during creation of an echo request. This can be exploited to trigger a bug-check that crashes the system. The vulnerability is confirmed in a fully patched versions of Windows Vista Business SP1, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP2. SOLUTION: Grant only trusted users access to affected systems.
