The security issue is caused due an error while renaming uploaded files. This can be exploited to rename and assign an arbitrary extension to a file. Successful exploitation requires "Files & Images" permissions and allows to execute arbitrary PHP code if support for .htaccess files is disabled or the "AllowOverride" directive does not specify "FileInfo". The security issue is confirmed in version 2.4.0. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Grant only trusted users "Files & Images" permissions.
