---------------------------------------------------------------------- Use WSUS to deploy 3rd party patches Public BETA http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/corporate/wsus_3rd_third_party_patching/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE: Webmatic Cross-Site Scripting and Script Insertion Vulnerabilities SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA39035 VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/39035/ DESCRIPTION: Lostmon has discovered some vulnerabilities in Webmatic, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks and by malicious people to conduct script insertion and cross-site scripting attacks. 1) Input passed via the "subject" and "message" parameters to index.php (when "stage" is set to "1", "section" is set to "100", and "action" is set to "564") is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. 2) Input passed via the "title" and "topic" parameters to index.php (when "stage" is set to "1", "section" is set to "17", and "action" is set to "478") is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. 3) Input passed via the "title" parameter to index.php (when "stage" is set to "1", "section" is set to "5", and "action" is set to "277") is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. 4) Input passed via the "title" and "banner_alt" parameters to index.php (when "stage" is set to "1", "section" is set to "3", and "action" is set to "533") is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. 5) Input passed via the "search" parameter to index.php (when "action" is set to "30" and "pageID" is set) is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. 6) Input passed via the "nickname" parameter to index.php (when "section" is set to 14 and "pageID" is set for to link to chatrooms) is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. 7) Input passed via the "title" parameter to index.php (when "section" is set to 14 and "pageID" is set for to link to forums) is not properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 3.0.3. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
