The security issue is caused due to network-manager-applet connecting to wireless networks despite having failed to load certification files, which prevents the correct verification of certain networks (e.g. WPA2 Enterprise with TTLS and PAP). This can be exploited to e.g. spoof networks. The security issue is reported in version 0.7.2. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Fixed in the GIT repository. http://git.gnome.org/cgit/network-manager-applet/commit/?h=NETWORKMANAGER_APPLET_0_7&id=4020594dfbf566f1852f0acb36ad631a9e73a82b PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Witold Baryluk ORIGINAL ADVISORY: Debian Bug #560067: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=560067 http://git.gnome.org/cgit/network-manager-applet/commit/?h=NETWORKMANAGER_APPLET_0_7&id=4020594dfbf566f1852f0acb36ad631a9e73a82b ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
