The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow error within the "vmd_read_header()" function in libavformat/sierravmd.c. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted VMD file. Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 0.5. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Do not process untrusted files using the library.
