The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow within the "fts_build()" function in src/lib/libc/gen/fts.c when processing deeply nested directories. This can be exploited to crash applications using certain fts routines (e.g. "rm", "du", "chgrp", and "chown") via specially crafted directory trees. The vulnerability is reported in version 4.3 and 4.4. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Fixed in the CVS repository. http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/lib/libc/gen/fts.c.diff?r1=1.41;r2=1.42 PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: Maksymilian Arciemowicz, SecurityReason ORIGINAL ADVISORY: http://securityreason.com/achievement_securityalert/60 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- About: This Advisory was delivered by Secunia as a free service to help everybody keeping their systems up to date against the latest vulnerabilities.
